JSI/USAID Food market Assessment Study
Results
ADARA-RMC implemented the USAID Advancing Nutrition study in Liberia, USAID flagship multi-sectoral
nutrition project, led by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), an international non-profit
public health consulting firm, and implemented by ADARA-RMC in Liberia. The project undertook food
system activities that improve the access, availability and affordability of safe and nutritious foods.
The study focused on assessing availability, accessibility, affordability and access to nutritious and safe
foods in market-based food environments. The study identified market-based barriers and opportunities for
supporting healthy and safe diets to inform the design, implementation, and monitoring of food system activities
that are context-specific and culturally relevant, and the challenges to designing food system activities
that support improved diets for local populations.
