Social Emotional Learning and Teacher Wellbeing Study Liberia – USAID/Ministry of Education Liberia - 2022

Service

ADARA-RMC carried out a detailed two-year study that focused on the social emotional learning of students and the wellbeing of teachers in Liberia. This research included the execution of three distinct studies, one of which was an ecosystem diagnostic that assessed the education system, the domain-specific system, and the evidence ecosystem. The goal was to provide a comprehensive overview of the key issues within the domain-specific system and the current status of the evidence ecosystem through approaches such as desk reviews, online surveys, and key informant interviews. The second phase of the study involved pinpointing significant issues, enhancing awareness among stakeholders in the evidence ecosystem, developing a vision for the ideal condition of the evidence ecosystem, and identifying potential intervention points within both the domain-specific system and the evidence ecosystem.

Data was gathered from over 1,000 primary school students and 750 teachers, focusing on nationally recognized social emotional learning competencies and factors that impact teachers' wellbeing. A detailed final report was produced, along with dissemination workshops. The study also resulted in the creation of tools intended to evaluate social emotional learning and the wellbeing of teachers.
